The correspondent said that Mohammad Abdul Dayem al Araj was arrested late on Monday, at a checkpoint in Wady el Shaab in Arsal.
The army said in a statement that army forces arrested two Syrians, Mohammad Abdul Dayem al Araj and Merhej Baqqar.
The statement said that Araj was suspected for arms trade, noting that the army seized foreign currency held with him.
Merhej was arrested for holding fake passport and ID, the army statement added.
Security sources told Al-Manar that al Araj was commissioned by the military council to open offices in the Syrian province of Homs where the militant groups deploy.
