The bombs targeted the same area of a village northwest of the ethnically-mixed city of Kirkuk, and also wounded two security officers, according to army Major General Mohammed Khalaf al-Dulaimi.

Militants attacked a polling station in the country’s north, forcing election staff and voters to evacuate the building before exploding it.

Meanwhile, a bomb explosion near a polling station in Iraq’s northern town of Dibs claimed the lives of at least four people.

Two mortars reportedly landed near polling stations in the west of the capital, Baghdad.

In the town of Tuz Khurmatu, located north of the capital, also militants set off nearly one dozen sound grenades.
