Bomb attack in capital of Russia’s Dagestan region in North Caucasus kills two people
A bomb attack in the capital of Russia's volatile Dagestan region in the North Caucasus has left two people killed and another wounded.
The blast occurred when a bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body during a routine document check after the police attempted to stop him for a document check.
"They came up to check his documents and he detonated the explosives," a spokesman for the regional police told AFP on Tuesday.
The blast killed one police officer and wounded another. The bomber was also killed.
The attack occurred by a restaurant and near the local police headquarters in the regional center of Makhachkala in Dagestan, the spokesman added. He did not elaborate more on the incident.
