Egypt’s state prosecutor has extended the detention of ousted president Hosni Mubarak for another 15 days
Egypt's state prosecutor has extended the detention of ousted president Hosni Mubarak for another 15 days.
Abdel Magid Mahmud "has ordered the preventative detention of former president Hosni Mubarak for 15 days that will begin when his current detention ends," on May 12, AFP quoted a statement by the office of the state prosecutor as saying.
The announcement was made after a team of investigators questioned Mubarak in a hospital in the resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, where he is under arrest. He is reportedly suffering from repeated heart attacks which occurred during interrogation.
Mubarak is being held for an investigation into corruption and the use of violence against protesters during 18 days of anti-regime rallies that toppled him on February 11.
The ousted Egyptian president's detention was primarily extended for 15 days on April 22.
In April, an Egyptian court dissolved the former ruling National Democratic Party of Mubarak and froze its assets.
