Iran President Hasan Rouhani said that presence of Iran in the upcoming summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is of great significance for restoration of peace and stability to the region, IRNA reported.
The President made the remarks in Tehran Tuesday morning while talking to reporters prior to his departure for China where he is to attend the two-day CICA summit which is to start in Shanghai on Wednesday.
President Rouhani said he is travelling to Shanghai upon an invitation by his Chinese counterpart.
He said the two presidents are to meet on the sidelines of the summit.
Noting that Tehran gives great importance to its ties with Beijing, the President said during tha past couple of years, Iran has intended to promote its trade relations with eastern countries such as India, Japan and China.
Referring to the extensive ties Iran has with the three countries, President Rouhani said Tehran’s ties with Beijing in the fields of trade and energy as well as industrial and technological activities were favorable.
Given the fact that heads of 22 world countries are participating in the CICA summit, President Rouhani said he is to hold separate meetings with a number of his counterparts on the sidelines of the event.
