Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the relationship with neighboring states is the top priority of Tehran’s foreign policy, Iran’s state agency reported.
Zarif made the remarks on the sidelines of his visit to chairman of the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani.
Referring to the upcoming visit of President Hasan Rouhani to Turkey which is slated for Monday, the foreign minister said while in Turkey the two sides are to discuss issues of mutual interest as well as major regional issues, IRNA said.
The 83-year-old ayatollah has been hospitalized since June 4th due to heart attack.
Zarif said that Ayatollah Kani has always been a symbol of convergence for the Islamic Revolution and people of Iran.
