US Secretary of State John Kerry said that using drones to carry out air strikes may be one of the options to halt the advance of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Kerry added that the US is ready to hold talks with Iran over Iraq crisis and did not rule out the military cooperation in this context, noting that ISIL aims at harming the United States and Europe, not only Syria and Iraq.

A senior US administration official also said that as a result "there may be some conversations" with Iranian negotiators on the sidelines of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers in Vienna on Monday.
