The Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian resistance faction Hamas, unveiled Sunday a homemade sniper rifle that the resistance group stated was used by the fighters in combat against Zionist troops who crossed into the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing offensive in the blockaded enclave.
The brigades posted a video on its website, showing fighters using the rifle in action in clashes with occupation troops.
The 14.5mm sniper rifle, which can hit a target at a range of 2 kilometers, was named Ghoul after Adnan al-Ghoul, the late head of the brigades’ manufacturing unit who was assassinated by a Zionist airstrike in 2004 in Gaza City, the group said.
The Zionist entity has been pounding the blockaded Gaza Strip – home to 1.8 million people – since July 7, leaving at least 1821 Palestinians dead and around 9400 others injured. Most of the victims were civilians.
However, the brigades said they have killed as many as 161 Zionist troops since the start of enemy's ground assault on the Gaza Strip.
