Abdollahian: Following Palestine, Syria Victory Resistance Grown More Powerful

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that following the victory in Palestine and Syria, the resistance front has grown more powerful.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that following the victory in Palestine and Syria, the resistance front has grown more powerful.

During a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, Abdollahian said: “With the victory of Syria and Palestine against the plots and aggressions of the Zionist regime, the resistance has been strengthened more than ever,” according to Fars news agency.

Iran's support for Palestine and Syria as two pivots of resistance is based on Islamic principles, Abdollahian told Mekdad, during the meeting on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers to discuss the aggravating conditions of the people in the Gaza Strip.

For his part, Mekdad lashed out at the international silence on the Israeli atrocities, saying: “"Those countries which allow Israel to continue its crimes in Gaza and prevent the UN Security Council's action in this regard are those who want the UNSC to issue the permission for launching attacks on the developing countries, including Syria."

He said that countries which support Palestinians must go beyond merely condemning Tel Aviv's criminal acts.

The Syrian official further called on the United Nations to shoulder its responsibility to stop Israel’s onslaught against Palestinians.
