The Cabinet convened on Thursday at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam, to discuss items on its agenda.
Reading out Cabinet's decisions in the wake of the meeting, Information Minister, Ramzi Jreij, said that Premier Salam opened up today's session by emphasizing the priority of the election of a new president of the Republic, and stressed the need for a united stance vis-a-vis Arsal events.
Salam pointed out that the causes and circumstances of Arsal events should be taken up after the conclusion of the military operations.
On the current Mosul's events, the Cabinet called on the international community to swiftly take action to stop the series of killings and displacement there, in protection of all the components of the Iraqi society. The Council of Ministers also implored all States to take the necessary decisions to protect peoples and groups of "crimes against humanity."
