A Zionist paratrooper wounded in fighting in the Gaza Strip during the 50-day war on Palestinian resistance died in hospital on Sunday, the occupation army said.
"Sergeant Shachar Shalev... who was critically injured during combat in the Gaza Strip on July 23, died of his wounds," a statement said.
His death brought to 66 the number of soldiers killed during the seven-week conflict with the resistance factions.
More than 2,100 Palestinians were killed in the Zionist bombardment of the narrow coastal territory, nearly 70 percent of them civilians, according to the United Nations.
The war began on July 8 and ended with a ceasefire on Tuesday.
