Lofven got 132 votes in the 349-seat Parliament, with 49 voting against, Dagens Nyheter reported.
The 154 abstentions came from the center-right Alliance parties, the Moderates, the Christian Democrats, the Liberals and the Center Party.
Lofven is expected to deliver a statement on government policy on Friday.
