Two senior leaders of the Haqqani network have been captured by Afghan security forces.
Two senior leaders of the Haqqani network have been captured by Afghan security forces, officials said Thursday.
The hard-line group is said to bebehind sophisticated attacks on Afghan forces and NATO troops in the country.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Afghan intelligence agency, arrested Anas Haqqani, the son of the network’s founder Jalaluddin Haqqani, late Tuesday along with Hafiz Rashid, another commander, AFP reported.
“We hope that these two arrests will have direct consequences on the network and their center of command,” NDS spokesman Haseeb Sediqi said.
