The Iranian Minister of Defense and Logistics of the Armed Forces Brigadier-General Hussein Dehqan asserted on Monday his country's support to Lebanon against the terrorist groups.
Dehqan made the remarks in a joint press conference in Tehran with Lebanese counterpart Samir Moqbel.
"Lebanon is a country with influence in various domains, especially security, reserving a special status in foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, so support for the nation, government of Lebanon and equipping the Lebanese army, especially in facing ISIL and Takfiris, is of significance," he said.
"The Takfiri-Zionist terrorism poses threat to the region, being the concern of the regional governments."
Dehqan noted that Takfiri-Zionist terror groups are active under support of the Western and certain regional governments.
"The terror groups commit inhumane crimes, sabotage and ruin the infrastructure of various regional states, including Syria, Iraq and Lebanon."
He said Iran has necessary determination to confront terrorism in the region.
For his part, the Lebanese minister for his part thanked Iran for warm hospitality and said during his three-day stay, he conferred with senior officials, including the president, speaker of Majlis, ministers of defense and the Interior and the secretary of the supreme national security council, acknowledging the Iranian preparedness to mobilize the Lebanese army.
"Iran would dispatch defense equipment and ammunitions to the Lebanese army and would extend military consultations to the Beirut government," he pointed out.
