The head of German BfV intelligence, Hans Georg Maassen said: “There are currently around 450 Germans fighting alongside ISIL in Iraq and Syria; most of which are of German nationals, but there are some of Turkish, Bosnian, Moroccan ethnicity.”
Noteworthy, EU Counter-terrorism Coordinator, Gilles de Kerchove has said earlier in September: “About 3000 European fighters have joined ISIL and the fighters came mainly from France, Britain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Austria.
