SalamLebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam said on Tuesday that Germany is of the most participating country to assist Lebanon in bearing the burden of the Syrian refugees.

"Germany now has over 55 thousand refugees," he said.

Salam explained to the delegates of the Arab press in Germany that "the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation announced a contribution of 800 million euros for the Trust Fund, which was formed by the World Bank."

Salam made clear that the financial support has not reached the sought amount yet since Lebanon's loss has been estimated of about 7 billion dollars according to the World Bank study.

In his response to a question, Salam said that the conference called for setting up a safe region in Syria, under an international supervision, to hold the largest possible number of those who were injured.

"There is also the suggestion to set up camps in safe Syrian regions, but it was not met by a support from countries and international organization," he said.
