Syrian President Bashar Assad met Monday the international envoy Staffan de Mistura to discuss a UN plan to "freeze" fighting in the northern city of Aleppo.
According to the Syrian presidency Facebook page, President Assad emphasized the importance of Aleppo and of restoring its security and stability.
De Mistura's office issued a statement after the meeting, pointing out that President Assad has been informed by of the main points of the UN initiative.
