Lebanese army arrested a prominent commander in al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group operating in Lebanon, Abdullah Azzam Brigades.

Lebanese daily al-Akhbar reported that the intelligence branch in the military arrested the terrorist operative, named Mahmoud A., in a perfect ambush last week.

The daily quoted security sources as saying that the terrorist is of the same importance with the terrorist Naim Abbas who was earlier this year detained by the Lebanese army.

Like Abbas, the recently detained terrorist is involved with recruiting suicide bombers who took part in several terrorist blasts in Lebanon last year.

The sources described the arrest as a high-value catch, noting that Mahmoud A., from Majdal Anjar, confessed to transferring the perpetrators of the two suicide bombings which took part last July in Dahr al-Baydar and Tayyouneh.

The terrorist was the right hand of Siraj al-Din Zureiqat, the spokesman of Abdullah Azzam Brigades, the sources said, adding that he was tasked with hiding Saja al-Dulaimi, the ex-wife of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi the chief of the terrorist group ISIL, who was arrested y the army earlier last month.

Mahmoud A. confessed to transferring militants from Majdal Anjar, Arsal, Tripoli and Shebaa. He also delivered money to the terrorist wanted Shadi al-Mawalawi, according to the sources.
