Bahraini interior minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa warned against threat posed by the terrorist group operating in Iraq and Syria, ISIL.

On the sidelines of a meeting with opposition figures, Sheikh Rachid said his ministry “takes threats posed by ISIL seriously.”

He stressed the importance of “curbing extremism,” as he described the opposition figures who were representing the political parties and the Shiite sect as “centrist” and “moderate”, Bahrain mirror reported.

The Bahraini minister noted that there is security cooperation with the neighboring countries, especially Saudi Arabia.

He said that extremist operatives had come to Bahrain, noting that the Bahraini authorities had put some people under surveillance.

Sheikh Rachid also said that political leadership was concerned that terrorist attacks would target Ashura processions during this year.

It is worth to say that Ashura processions this year were targeted by regime forces.
