Head of Hezbollah’s Political Council Sayyed Ibrahim Amin As-Sayyed stressed his political camp’s support to the nomination of General Michel Aoun for the presidency.

Head of Hezbollah's Political Council Sayyed Ibrahim Amin As-Sayyed stressed, after the visit of a delegation from the party to Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, his political camp's support to the nomination of General Michel Aoun for the presidency.

"We are convinced that he [Aoun] is the right person to bear this responsibility at this circumstance," he said.

"We conveyed to the Patriarch the greetings of Hezbollah's Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, and we discussed with him the situation in Lebanon and the region. We held in-depth talks about the efforts exerted by the Patriarch for the conclusion of the presidential elections dossier," Sayyed went on to say.

"The Patriarch welcomed the recent dialogue, and we briefed him on the latest updates at this level," he added, hoping this dialogue would bear fruits "especially amid the threats facing the homeland."
