The Director General of the General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, visited Friday UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major-General Luciano Portolano at the headquarters of the international force in Naqoura

The Director General of the General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, visited Friday UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major-General Luciano Portolano at the headquarters of the international force in Naqoura and offered him condolences over the death of the Spanish soldier who was killed on January 28 by an Israeli shell.

In the wake of the meeting, Portolano thanked Ibrahim for his visit, and highly appreciated the role played by the Lebanese amid the prevailing situation at the local and regional levels, NNA reported.

"We are comfortable with the situation and our communication with all parties. We have emphasized the need to comply to Resolution 1701", Portolano said as touching on the security situation in South Lebanon.

In turn, Major General Ibrahim praised the "great role played by Gen. Portolano and UNIFIL's efforts to maintain security."

Touching on International Security Council resolution 1701, Ibrahim said, "I represent the Lebanese state which fully adheres to this decision."
