Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday said without Iranians resistance, enemies would set conditions on Iran’s nuclear program.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks while meeting a large group of people coming from East Azarbaijan Province to visit the Leader.
“We have to do a serious job. We can resist against sanctions and abort enemies’ plots,” Ayatollah Khamenei stressed adding, “Without resistance, the enemy will set up conditions for our nuclear program and impose sanctions.”
The Leader stressed that enemies of Iran are “making ultimate use of the tool of sanctions to stop Iranians progress.”
“I believe, even if the nuclear issue advances according to what is dictated by them, the sanctions will not be lifted again as they (enemies) are opposed to the principle of the Islamic Revolution,” said the Leader.
“If it is to put sanctions, Iranians too, will sanction them in the future. Iran owns the most oil and gas resources of the world. Gas is badly needed by Europe and the entire world. Iran can sanction them if it is deemed necessary.”
The Leader also said it is a must to cut off dependence of Iran’s budget on its oil revenues.
“Budget dependence on oil must be stopped,” stressed Ayatollah Khamenei noting that the budget must “rely on revenues coming from people’s domestic production and taxes.”
Referring to paying of taxes as a religious duty, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “It is a crime to tax the poor instead of the rich.”
Commenting on the US-led so-called coalition against Daesh (ISIS) terrorists, the Leader said, “They wrote to Iran’s Foreign Ministry that they don’t support ISIL, but Revolutionary fighters (Mujahedin) possess images of their military aid to ISIL.”
