The Bahraini Al Wefaq National Islamic Society opposition group called on the international community to work for the release of Secretary General Sheikh Ali Salman, stressing that the complacency and reluctance in this issue will move Bahrain into a dark tunnel.
The international community has the key to a political solution with the monarchy, otherwise the situation will be difficult, the group said on Sunday.
Al-Wefaq voiced concerns that the political situation in Bahrain is critical and needs a real saving based on a serious initiative to push towards a political solution, stressing that situation would be deteriorated as a result of using excessive force against the Bahraini people, who demand fair and legitimate rights concerning his presence and basic needs.
The main opposition group said that international rights organizations, particularly the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the International Federation for Human Rights, as well as the position of spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, made clear that charges against Sheikh Salman lack authenticity and demanded his immediate release.
Peaceful revolution erupted in Bahrain on February 2011, however, the monarchy of Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa launched a brutal crackdown on the people, who are demanding democracy and social reform.
