The Lebanese army stationed in Ras Baalbeck and northern Bekaa is intermittently targeting with heavy artillery the movements and gatherings of gunmen in the direction of al-Najasa and al-Mukhairami hilltops in the eastern mountain range of Arsal terrains, NNA reported.
The Lebanese Army had carried out an operation at dawn on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek and Arsal using rocket artillery, heavy and medium weapons to protect its posts near the border and reduce infiltration operations by militant groups.
Al-Manar correspondent in the Bekaa Valley said that after the army covered the area with shelling, reconnaissance aircrafts and helicopters flies an army force advanced towards Jarash hill in Ras Baalbek. The army managed to establish an observation point and a leading position in the face of Takfiri groups’ positions.
This came as the army fully cleared Jarash hill after defeating extremist groups, a number of improvised explosive devices prepared for bombing were found and the army dismantled it.
The army improvised two military posts in Sadr al-Jarash and Harf Jarash, northeast Ras Al Hamra Hilltop, in the direction of the Lebanese-Syrian borders, thus becoming in control of the movements of the gunmen in the region's highlands.
The number of wounded military men has risen to five, including an officer, who were taken aboard a military helicopter to Hermel Hospital and Beirut state-run hospital for treatment.
The army expanded the area of targeting insurgents, which entailed a while ago Wadi Hmayid in Arsal terrain where the gunmen fled to.
