According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake hit the Fox Islands in the eastern part of the small fishing port of Atka at 6:09 pm local time (0309 GMT) on Thursday.
The quake struck more than 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) west of the major Alaskan city of Anchorage.
No immediate casualties reported due to the strong tremor.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that "no current warning, watch, or advisory" has been issued for the Pacific Ocean.
Alaska Earthquake Information Center also revealed that 26 earthquakes hit central and east-central regions of Alaska between 07:25 and 12:09 AM local time (04:25 – 09:09 GMT) on Friday.
