Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh started a one-day visit to Iran where he will meet the senior officials.

Judeh, who termed his visit to Iran as very important, is scheduled to meet FM Mohammad Javad Zarif and President Sheikh Hasan Rouhani.

The Jordanian top diplomat had met with the Iranian Ambassador to Jordan Mojtaba Ferdowsipour before leaving Amman for Tehran on Friday.

He said the visit to Tehran especially at the present juncture was quite important.

The two officials discussed details of the visit and exchanged views on issues of interest for both countries.

They also talked about the joint economic committee which is to be held in Tehran in April.

The Jordanian foreign minister expressed his idea that top-level negotiations with Iranian officials will help further promote bilateral relations in all areas including economy.

The Iranian ambassador congratulated Judeh on his re-election to the post of foreign minister and also his simultaneous promotion to the post of deputy prime minister.

The trip of the Jordanian foreign minister to Tehran comes in answer to a visit by Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to Amman.
