Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his American counterpart John Kerry started a new round of talks in the Swiss town of Lausanne to hammer out an agreement on Iran’s nuclear problem.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his American counterpart John Kerry started a new round of talks in the Swiss town of Lausanne to hammer out an agreement on Iran's nuclear problem.

The two ministers were scheduled to confer on Sunday evening, but the meeting was postponed due to Kerry's tardy arrival in Lausanne.

Iran and US started a new round of nuclear discussions in Lausanne on Sunday. Head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Ali Akbar Salehi and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz attended the meeting.

Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi deputies to Iranian Foreign Minister, IAEO Deputy Head Behrooz Kamalvandi, and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman were also present in the discussions.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (US, Russia, France, Britain, China, and Germany) are working to reach a comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program based on the Joint Plan of Action signed in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and its 7-month extension.

The current round of talks is scheduled to continue until March 20.
