Units of the army and armed forces on Thursday continued mop-up operations, tightening the noose around foreign-backed terrorists in several areas across the country.

In Aleppo, units of the army and the armed forces established full control over a number of farms surrounding Handarat area in the northern countryside of Aleppo province after eliminating scores of terrorists and destroying their vehicles.

In Idlib, army units carried out several military operations in the countryside of Idleb northern province inflicting heavy losses upon Jabhat-al-Nusra terrorists and others affiliated to it.

A military source told SANA on Thursday that an army unit targeted a terrorists’ den in the surrounding area of Bennish town, seven km away from Idleb city, killing 16 members of “Ahrar al-Sham” terrorist organization most of them are not Syrians.

The body of Yousef Qebala was identified among the killed terrorists and four terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra were also killed including the terrorist Majd-Eddin al-Sallat. Many vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns were also destroyed during the operation.

The source added that eight terrorists from “Liwa Soqour al-Sham” terrorist organization were killed in the surrounding area of the building of the central prison in Idelb, the bodies of Abdul-Rahman Drai’ and Mostafa al-Rahmoun were identified among the killed terrorists.

Six more members from “Ahrar al-Sham” terrorist group were killed including Ahmad Dib al-Mansour, as a machinegun and two vehicles equipped with DhK were destroyed.

In a special operation, army units eliminated 20 terrorists from “Ahrar al-Sham”, in addition to injuring dozens near Maret Masrin, 9 km to the north of Idleb city. The bodies of the terrorists Abdul-Karim al-Saleh, Majed Ahmad al-Khalaf, Safi Badawi and Osama Taha Hamdan were identified among the killed terrorists. Three vehicles were also destroyed during the operation.

In the southern countryside of the province, terrorists’ dens and gatherings were targeted, killing many of the terrorists and injuring others, in addition to destroying their vehicles in Saraqeb town, Sarmin, Jidar Bakfaloun and on Taoum road.

A unit of the army and armed forces also killed a number of terrorists and destroyed their heavy machinegun-equipped vehicle at the surrounding of Kafermid in the countryside of the province.

In Homs, a unit of the army and the armed forces foiled an attempt by terrorist groups to attack the village of Jib al-Jarrah from the direction of the villages of Rouhoum and Unq al- Hawa in the countryside of Homs central province, killing and injuring scores of their members and destroying an armored vehicle with all terrorists onboard being killed.

Units of the army and the armed forces also foiled an attack by terrorists against Hush Qubaibat al-Asi village in the countryside of al-Rastan, destroying an armored vehicle of terrorists to the east of Jib al-Jarrah city in the eastern countryside of province.

In Daraa, units of the army and armed forces destroyed two terrorist organizations’ dens in al-Ghariyeh al-Gharbiyeh in the countryside of Daraa province.

In Quneitra, many terrorists were killed in military operations near al-Bawari factory in al-Hamidiyeh village in the countryside of Quneitra province.

In Hama, units of the army and the armed forces destroyed two cars loaded with huge amounts of explosives while trying to attack one of the military points at the entrance of al-Kafat village in the eastern countryside of Hama central province, foiling terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate into the village.

Syria was hit by a violent unrest since mid-March 2011, where the western media reports accuse countries, mainly the USA, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar of orchestrating the civil conflict in the country and providing terrorist groups with money, weapons and trained mercenaries.

On May 2011, Syrian army launched a wide-scale operation against armed groups and gunmen operating in the country, who started to escape the army blows and infiltrate illegally to Lebanon.
