Unknown assailants killed three Iranian policemen in a terrorist attack in the Southwestern Khuzestan province on Thursday, Fars news agency reported.
"Unidentified gunmen opened fire at police officers in the city of Hameediyeh at 03:00 am (local time) on Thursday, killing three and wounding two more," provincial Deputy Police Chief Colonel Rahman Mousavi said.
"The two wounded policemen have been taken to a nearby hospital," he added.
Law enforcement officials said investigations into the incident are already underway.
