Mourtada Sarmadi - BerriThe Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed on Wednesday noon the Iranian President's special Envoy First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mourtada Sarmadi, the accompanied delegation and Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Fathali with discussions reportedly featuring high on latest developments.

Sarmadi said after the meeting that it was an opportunity to exchange ideas and points of view regarding the developments of the last ten days, mainly the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the P5+1 group and the military attacks against Yemen.

He added that talks tackled the ways that could be adopted to treat the Yemeni crisis which should be based on putting an end to the military attacks and preventing killing innocent people and destruction of Yemen's infrastructure.

Sarmadi added that his country urges all Yemeni parties to start dialogue, adding that all political parties in Yemen should meet at a neutral zone to discuss forming a comprehensive cabinet.

Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Wednesday met at the Grand Serail with Sarmadi who said that attack on Yemen was a strategic mistake, refusing any military solution to the crisis in this war-torn country.

"All countries that are jealous for the regional interest must hand in hand exit the crises and cease the military operations to find a mechanism for dialogue among the people of Yemen," the envoy told reporters following the meeting.

"The political solution ends the crisis while the military solution only exacerbates the situation," he concluded.

Sarmadi on Wednesday also visited Foreign Affairs Minister, Jibran Bassil, and discussed with him bilateral ties as well as overall developments at the local and regional scenes.

Sarmadi explained that the best solution to the Yemeni crisis "is resorting to dialogue among all the society's constituents, except takfiris, and the efficient Yemeni forces so as to come out with a national Yemeni government serving the high Yemeni interest."
