French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius was in Riyadh on Sunday to express support for Saudi Arabia`s aggression against neighboring Yemen.
"Concerning Yemen, we are here to demonstrate our support, especially political, to the Saudi authorities," Fabius told reporters in Riyadh.
Fabius would reaffirm to his Saudi hosts that "France is naturally on the side of its regional partners for the restoration of stability in Yemen," his entourage said.
Meanwhile, he said France was ready to work on resolving the crisis in Yemen.
"It will be necessary, at one moment or another, to hold talks" for a political solution, Fabius said after he met with King Salman and other top Saudi officials.
"France has expressed its readiness to find a solution" for Yemen, he said.
"Our position is to say: All that can be done in order to favor a political solution is going in the right direction," Fabius said in a later meeting with reporters.
He added the Saudis "have repeated to me all the day long" they want a return to stability and "legitimacy" in the neighboring country.
For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal called on Iran not to "assist the criminal activities" of Ansarullah revolutionaries who have been a target for the Saudi-US coalition against Yemen.
"Unless Iran thinks it has suddenly become part of Yemen, we are not at war with Iran," he said at a press conference with his French counterpart.
Yemen has been under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition whose warplanes are carrying out airstrikes on several areas across the country.
Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
