Iran strongly rejected Saudi claims about Iran’s interference in Yemen, saying that Riyadh is the country which is interfering in Yemen and violating international laws as well through its war on the Arab world’ poorest country.

Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Monday blasted Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal for his imprecise remarks about Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham "The Saudi official is speaking of meddling in Yemen's affairs, while its forces have been for more than two weeks violating the known international laws and shedding the blood of hundreds of innocent people, children and women in their attacks on Yemen's infrastructures and residential areas, and do not listen to legitimate international demands for ceasing war against a defenseless country and nation."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its principle positions, requests halt to all types of military operations against Yemen and stresses rapid dispatch of humanitarian aid cargos, including medicine and foodstuff, to that country," Fars news agency quoted Afkham as saying.

The Iranian spokeswoman also underlined that Yemen is "an independent country with a vigilant and understanding nation" who would never accept domineering or sovereignty of any other state over their country.

Afkham cautioned that Saudi Arabia's "continued military attacks would only complicate the problems in Yemen", reiterating that the country's problems could only be resolved through "political solutions and all-inclusive internal talks by all politico-social groups, parties and streams" as well as "establishment of a national unity government".
