Lebanese security forces seized on Wednesday a booby-trapped car inside the eastern Lebanese town of Arsal before reaching its target in Ras Assarj neighborhood.
"Policemen deployed in Arsal suspected of a white Fiat car parked near the Al-Rawda Mosque, 100 meters away from a Lebanese army check point," a statement of the Internal Security Forces read.
The national police cordoned off the place and summoned an expert in the Judiciary Police Unit to detect the car that was planted by 35 kilograms of high explosives.
Another two bombs were found in the trunk, in addition to a safari gas stove full of nitrates placed behind the driver's seat, three 2-liter plastic bombs full of nitrates placed under the seat next to the driver, 400 grams of TNT, 500 grams of iron balls, and 30 kilograms of iron fragments. The police expert dismantled all of them.
Security sources told Al-Manar TV that the car was not booby-trapped in Arsal barrens, but inside the town of Arsal, because the army deployment in the area prevents any possibility of its entrance to the town.
Several previous car bombs were carried out by the terrorist Sami Ahmad al-Atrash, dubbed "Sami al-Darookh, who was killed in March 2014.
