Militants of the Takfiri group ISIL (so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant) assassinated the group’s former “Legal Emir” in Qalamoun, sources told al-Manar.
The Takfiri militants stormed the house of Abu al-Walid al-Maqdissi in Wadi Hmayyed in the barrens of the Lebanese town, Arsal, and slaughtered him along with his wife, the sources said.
Al-Maqdissi had earlier this month announced his defection from ISIL in an audio recording, in which he accused the Takfiri group of “corruption” within its ranks.
Syria has been since 2011 grappling with a deadly crisis fueled by Takfiri groups.
The terrorists have been taking from barrens of Arsal eastern city a stronghold.
The resistance fighters have been for weeks engaged in a wide-scale operation to secure the barrens of Qalamoun and Arsal. These areas lie on the border between Syria and Lebanon and is considered as stronghold for the Syria-based Takfiri militants.
