Hezbollah condemned the "politicized" sentence which was issued by the Bahraini authorities against the Secretary General of Al-Wefaq Islamic Association Sheikh Ali Salman and stipulated imprisoning him for four years
Hezbollah condemned the "politicized" four-year prison sentence issued by the Bahraini authorities against the Secretary General of Al-Wefaq Islamic Association Sheikh Ali Salman, saying it was based on "fabricated charges and untrue allegations".
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hezbollah considered that the sentence reflects the disintegration of the Bahraini regime's ties with the people and shows the authorities' break from the hopes and aspirations of the citizens.
"The sentence displays the Bahraini regime's embroilment in preserving its monopoly over power by resorting to repression, arbitrary verdicts, and scaremongering," the statement added.
Hezbollah underlined that “the sentence against Sheikh Salman has nothing to do with the judiciary, law or justice, and is rather a malicious and vengeful verdict expressing the rage of the authorities over the Bahrainis’ commitment to rational peaceful controlled activism for the purpose of obtaining their legitimate demands.”
Hezbollah pointed out that the “movement of the people of Bahrain aims to found genuine national partnership and establish just governance that represents all the Bahrainis and reflects their desire to free and dignified living.”
The party called on the legal and civil institutions in the Arab countries and in the whole world to exert all possible efforts in order to press on the repressive regime in Bahrain, work for the immediate release of Sheikh Salman and support the peaceful popular movement which has set a good example in persistence on its rightful demands.
