Arrival of first batchAfter the Lebanese waited for a long time to receive the first batch of the Saudi-funded French weaponry to the national army, Saudi Arabia, according As-Safir newspaper, asked officially France to freeze implementing the tripartite deal.

The Lebanese paper's report added that the Saudis asked the French to avoid informing the Lebanese government about the freeze decision officially.

Saudi Arabia claimed that it decided to reconsider the list of the weapons that would be sent to the Lebanese army according to the deal.

The Lebanese strategic expert, MP al-Walid Sukkarieh, considered that KSA's decision comes in the context of the Kingdom's pressures on the Lebanese government to prevent the army from confronting the Saudi- backed terrorist groups in Arsal barrens.

Saudi Arabia had decided in 2014 to grant Lebanon two donations of a sum of $ 4 billion with the aim of purchasing French weapons for the army and other national security services.
