Former Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday denied that the Zionist entity is aiding the Nusra Front, the Syrian offshoot of al-Qaeda.

Former Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday denied that the Zionist entity is aiding the Nusra Front, the Syrian offshoot of al-Qaeda.

“There is no cooperation between Israel and Nusra Front,” Lieberman told Army Radio.
“There is no intention of [engaging in such cooperation]. It’s simply insane.”

Questions over Israel’s purported support for Syria-based Takfiris have been thrust into the public discourse in recent weeks, with several Israeli reports comfirmed such cooperation. Druze living in the occupied Golan Heights believe that militants of the Takfiri group being treated at Israeli hospitals.

On Monday night, a group of Druze attacked an Israeli ambulance in Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, and killed a wounded Nusra militant.

"A crowd attacked an ambulance with stones near Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights," as it was transporting two wounded gunmen operating in Syria, the occupation police said in a statement, adding that one of the injured "died after the attack".

The second Nusra gunman was in a serious condition, and that two soldiers who were also inside the vehicle had been lightly wounded, the statement added.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon pledged to track down Druze attackers responsible for the "lynching" of the wounded Syrian militants.

Yaalon labelled Monday's attack a "lynching" and vowed action.
"We won't be able to ignore it, and law enforcement authorities will deal with it heavy-handedly," he said in a statement.
