The Lebanese Army arrested on Monday eight Syrians near the northeastern border with Syria on suspicion of belonging to terrorist groups, the Lebanese Army Directorate said Tuesday.
The men were arrested between Labweh and Arsal, the statement said according to NNA. It said the suspected Syrians were handed over to the concerned authorities.
Among the detainees was one who was a confirmed member of a terrorist organization, according to the statement. He was identified as Walid Ahmad Youssef.
The other seven were believed to have links to ISIL or Nusra Front, who are currently entrenched on the outskirts of Arsal, the Army said.
