Takfiri group operating in Syria, Jaysh al-Islam, released a video showing its militants shooting dead several militants of rival Takfiri group, ISIL (so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant).
Emulating the executions performed by its rival group, the video shows militants with the Jaysh al-Islam shooting 18 purported ISIL militants in the head.
Jaysh al-Islam posted the recording online in a carefully choreographed reversal of ISIL's own tactic of murdering prisoners in gruesome public spectacles.
The video clip uses sound effects and visuals similar to those used in ISIL videos. The executioners are, however, dressed in orange and the fettered militants in black, the opposite of what takes place in many ISIL clips.
Jaysh al-Islam says the killings were carried out in revenge for the recent beheadings of its own fighters and accuses ISIL of being allied with the Syrian government.
Last week, ISIL released a video showing the beheading of 12 militants, including one from al-Nusra Front, al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, and three from Jaysh al-Islam.
