Public prosecution in Bahrain referred Majeed Milad for trial, his lawyer Abdullah Shimlawi said on his Twitter account, adding that the trial was set for July 13.

Milad is a member of Al Wefaq’s General Secretariat and former president of the capital governorate’s municipal council. He was arrested last week after interior ministry summoned him for questioning.

Shortly before his arrest, Milad  said that the Al Khalifa regime had been ignoring threats by the Takfiri group, ISIL (so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant), to target mosques in the country.

In a post on his Twitter account, Milad stressed that Bahraini Shias would not leave mosques empty because of ISIL threats.
