The Sinai Province terrorist group, affiliate with the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri group said on Thursday it had carried out a rocket attack on an Egyptian naval vessel in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Egyptian military said earlier a coastguard vessel had exchanged shots with militants off the coast of northern Sinai Peninsula, an area bordering the Gaza Strip and the Zionist entity.
The boat caught fire in the eastern Mediterranean but the incident resulted in no casualties, the military said.
