Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem told the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura is a major priority.

Al-Moallem said that Syria stills sees that eliminating terrorism and drying up its financial resources are the major priority, SANA news agency reported.

He recalled in this context Syria’s support for the initiative launched by President Vladimir Putin that aims at having a regional effort for fighting terrorism in the framework of implementing the relevant Security Council resolutions on counterterrorism.

Al-Moallem stressed that the people and army of Syria will remain steadfast while defending its security and stability and those of the region.

De Mistura came to Damascus to present a preview of the latest developments concerning the meetings he has been holding in the framework of settling the crisis in Syria.

Al-Moallem reviewed the latest developments in the country and renewed Syria’s support to de Mistura’s efforts that seek a political solution.
