Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian strongly criticized actors in the region for favoring military solutions to the regional crises.
"Unfortunately some regional countries have resorted to the use of military force and approaches to resolve the problems," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov in Tehran on Thursday.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister, meantime, pointed to Iran's positive approach to the crises of the region, and said, "During the recent negotiations between the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Kuwaiti and Qatari counterparts, it was stressed that the regional issues, including those of Bahrain, Yemen, Syria and Iraq, have no solution but a political one based on a win-win approach.”
Amir Abdollahian reiterated Iran's support for a political and win-win solution to the ongoing conflicts in the region.
The Russian deputy foreign minister, for his part, underlined the need for further consultations among the regional countries, specially Iran and Saudi Arabia, to reach understanding on regional issues.
"The resolution of conflicts in the region, including those in Syria and Yemen, is impossible without Iran’s participation," Bogdanov said.
Last month, Zarif visited Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar on a three-nation tour of the Middle East to exchange views on bilateral ties as well as major regional and international developments.
Iran has always stressed the importance of relations with the Islamic Republic’s neighbors.
