Arab Democratic Party official Rifaat Eid tells Al-Manar Website attack against his home might be personal
Security forces have arrested three people for opening fire from a speeding car near the home of Arab Democratic Party official Rifaat Eid in Tripoli’s Jabal Mohsen neighborhood.
No one was injured in the incident but Eid said that the attack might be personal.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Manar Website, Eid said the incident was under investigation. “I don’t want to anticipate things,” he noted. “Let’s wait the results of the ongoing investigations before taking any stance,” he went on to say.
“If the incident turns to be personal, since some press reports said that the assailants were young drunk people, then we will forgive, but with guarantees that the incident won’t be repeated,” he pointed out.
“However, if the investigations show that there was a specific party behind the attack, then certain measures should be taken and those behind it should be held accountable,” he stressed.
Eid said he was still waiting for the outcome of the investigations, and stressed he fully trusts the Lebanese army in this process. He also confirmed the reports concerning the arrest of the three assailants.
The ADP’s political affairs officer stressed that all political forces denounced the attack. “We opened a new page in Tripoli,” he recalled.
