Former MP Yaaqoub: Hariri, Like Israel, Targets Resistance

In an interview with Al-Manar Website, former MP Hasan Yaaqoub criticized March 14’s stance on the UNIFIL attack and indicated that ways of targeting the resistance used by Lebanese groups are similar to those used by the Israeli

Former MP Hasan Yaaqoub to Al-Manar Website:
Hariri Targeting Resistance, Just Like Israel!
Sayyed Nasrallah Setting Up National Balances
No Way to Preserve Wealth without Resistance
Majority of People Convinced Tribunal Politicized
Rhetoric of Former MP Fares Soaid Illogical
Targeting Resistance in Hariri Case Waste of Time

Former lawmaker in the Lebanese Parliament Hasan Yaaqoub said that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah set up high national balances in defense of Lebanon and its natural wealth. He said that there was no way to preserve the oil wealth without the resistance and the Resistance-Army-People golden formula.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Manar Website, Yaaqoub said that the policy of tarnishing the Resistance’s image reflects the work of dark rooms serving the Zionist movement in the world. He pointed to documented confessions in the US Congress of spending 500 millions of dollars to achieve this goal.

While asserting that the majority of the nation was convinced that the international tribunal charged with trying the ‘suspects’ in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri’s case was politicized, Yaaqoub found strange the rhetoric of the latter’s son, former PM Saad Hariri. He denounced how Hariri and who surrounds him target the resistance, just like the Israeli enemy does.

SOME SIDES SEEKING INSTABILITY

Former MP Hasan Yaaqoub commented on the latest blast that targeted the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and said that it serves the Zionist enemy. He noted that some sides, who believe they are hurt by the calm atmosphere at the borders with the occupied territories, are seeking to create instability.

Yaaqoub spoke of malignant hands behind the incident, and noted it was not the first time the UNIFIL forces are targeted in Lebanon. He said that most of the previous attempts served the same goal, scaring the UNIFIL forces and seeking to create a new international status-quo.

WHERE ARE RAFIQ HARIRI’S PRINCIPLES?

Commenting on the stance made by the March 14 General Secretariat which claimed that the attack against the UNIFIL forces would not have taken place in the first place had it not been for what it called Hezbollah’s hostile positions towards international agreements, Yaaqoub said this group was used to statements contradictory to the truth. While rejecting the rhetoric of former MP Fares Souaid, represented by this statement, as illogical, he said this statement was not isolated from the misleading conduct adopted by this group.

Yaaqoub also commented on the accusations launched by this group against Hezbollah and its Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah of standing behind what they call ‘hatred campaigns’ against former PM Saad Hariri and attempting to politically assassinate him. He said that the group surrounding Hariri has been used to emotional exploitations since Rafiq Hariri’s assassination, when they did not hesitate to accuse anyone who opposes their policies of targeting the late PM and even of involvement in his murder, “given that what they are doing nowadays is fully contradicting to the late PM’s values and principles.”

Yaaqoub said that the fierce rhetoric adopted by Hariri’s bloc was a proof that the press reports related to personal issues concerning him were perhaps true. “Thus, they were hurt by the reports that were published in media and reacted like they did,” he noted. “The content of Hariri’s statement is not strange as it comes in harmony with his policy of targeting Hezbollah and its Secretary General in person,” he added. “However, what must be condemned is that they are targeting the Resistance, just like Israel does!”

RESISTANCE’S DETERRENCE POWER

Turning to the latest speech of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, Yaaqoub noted that the latter has expanded the national deterrence balances with the enemy in defense of Lebanon and its natural wealth, alongside everything that lies within Lebanon’s sovereignty and national security.

Yaaqoub said that Hezbollah Secretary General has closed all doors for a useless dialogue about the Resistance’s arms, and put an end to all attempts to push the Resistance arms into the internal disputes.

He noted that Sayyed Nasrallah, through his latest speech, sought to declare that oil constitutes the only escape for all economic crises. He noted that there was no way to preserve the oil wealth without the resistance and the Resistance-People-Army golden formula. While wondering how any party in Lebanon could discuss the fate of the Resistance arms, he stressed that nothing deters the enemy in the whole world except this Resistance and its arms as well as the deterrence power that was consolidated by the Resistance following the July 2006 war.

WHO’S TARNISHING RESISTANCE’S IMAGE?

Former MP Hasan Yaaqoub did not find strange Sayyed Nasrallah’s words of efforts to tarnish the image of the Resistance since the Israeli defeat in the July 2006 war. He pointed to the presence of documented confessions in the US Congress about spending 500 million dollars to achieve this goal in Lebanon, “and this is only what was announced.”

Yaaqoub stressed that the policy of tarnishing the image of the Resistance represents huge efforts undertaken by the dark rooms serving the Zionist movement in the world. He noted that this policy comes in the framework of the Israeli attempts to restore their lost confidence within the Zionist society, as Hezbollah Secretary General explained.

Answering a question on whether the international tribunal was in the depth of this policy, Yaaqoub highlighted that the majority of the regions’ nation was convinced that this tribunal was politicized. He recalled how this tribunal accused the four officers and the joint Lebanese-Syrian security apparatus at the beginning and that the accusation was then directed to Syria, and recently the Resistance became the target. “This is a solid proof that the tribunal is politicized,” he said.

Yaaqoub stressed that targeting the resistance and unfairly accusing it of involvement in the assassination of former PM Rafiq Hariri was a waste of time.

FREEDOM FOR IMAM SADR…

In conclusion, and on the eve of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Yaaqoub hoped that a new victory would be achieved and that all dignities be restored, at the top is the freedom of the Resistance’s founder Imam Sayyed Mussa Sadr alongside his two companions Sheikh Mohamad Yaaqoub and journalist Abbas Badreddin.
