Hezbollah stated that it stands in solidarity with the Somali people, and called on charitable and rightful people to aid them, as international organizations controlled by the West have failed to implement their duties.
Hezbollah commented on the tough humanitarian situation in East Africa, and questioned the absence of world assistance to the people.
In a statement it issued Thursday, the resistance said: “Once again the tough climate hits East Africa, leaving its people, specifically in Somalia, in a state of severe hunger and neediness, and causing the death of many as a result of malnutrition and food shortage”.
“The dryness that the East African region suffers from is not restricted to the lack of rain and absence of water, but is also due to the drought of humanitarian feelings in powerful counties and people that enjoy the world’s goods, leaving the underdeveloped countries pillaged by death, poverty, hunger, and ignorance”.
“Western countries that brag constantly about their concern over humanity, stand unconcerned, and with complete carelessness, before the tragedy of Somalia and its neighbors’ people, and settle for releasing statements that do not save from hunger, in absence of any practice that would reduce the level of tragedy and decrease death among women and children who are not responsible for regional and international conflicts that hit their lands”.
Hezbollah went on saying: “International organizations concerned of treating such problems seem to neglect this humanitarian crisis, and are absent from doing the least of their duty to minimize these people’s famine”.
The party further clarified that “this negligence results from the hegemony of Western countries, which pillage the world’s goods and Africa’s wealth in specific, over these organizations, prevent it from implementing its duty, and make it a bystander before hunger victims rather than being the savior of these victims, like their job requires”.
Hezbollah concluded by saying that “it reveals its deep solidarity with the victims of this new human catastrophe”, and called on international states and governments, relief organizations and the concerned institutions, as well as charitable and rightful people to hurry for aiding and supporting the people of the ravaged region, so that they’d become a real model for holding responsibility in this world where personal and private interest has become dominant on all the countries and figures.
