Assad to Abdollahian: Syria Welcomes Iran Efforts to Solve Crisis

President Bashar al-Assad told Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, that Damascus welcomes the efforts and contacts made by Iran in a bid to solve the Syrian crisis.

As he received Abdollahian and the accompanying delegation, Assad said the Syrian people trust the role Iran has always played in support of the people of the region and their just causes.

President Assad receives AbdollahianThe meeting discussed the scourge of terrorism in Syrian and the region, as well as the continued support for insurgents by states claiming to fight terrorism, official news agency, SANA, reported.

For his part, Abdollahian said Iran is keen to help the Syrian people in their war against terrorism and to have them realize their interests and aspirations without any foreign interference.

Tehran, he added, will spare no effort that could help in re-establishing stability in Syria and contribute to combating terrorism on the regional and international levels.

To fulfill these goals, said Abdollahian, it is important that coordination and consultation with the Syrian government continues.
