According to the sources, a fleet of 21 F-16s and F-4 2020s of Turkish Air Forces heavily bombed over 64 targets in Qandil, Hakkurk, Avasin, Metina, Baysan, Gara and Zap between 11.50 p.m. (20:50GMT) and 5.30 a.m. (02:30 GMT).

The strikes also destroyed the largest ammunition depot of the terrorist group in Gara, the sources added.

Turkish security forces have responded to renewed PKK attacks in the southeast by launching airstrikes on PKK bases in northern Iraq and the army has sent ground troops across the border, killing nearly a 1,000 Kurds.

On Tuesday, Turkey also sent two units of its special forces, comprising 230 troops into northern Iraq for the first time in more than two years to pursue PKK militants across the border, a military source said.

On Thursday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that a full-scale ground operation against PKK in northern Iraq would be launched “if necessary”.
