The Lebanese Army arrested on Tuesday a terrorist network of the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri group that was planning to carry out bombings and to task persons with participating in Beirut's popular set-ins to stir up sedition in the country.
In a similar development, the Lebanese Army said in a statement that it arrested an alleged ISIL security official on the northeastern border.
The statement released Tuesday night said the Army arrested Ibrahim Qassem Atrash who took part in the kidnapping of soldiers and policemen during the 2014 clashes in Arsal region, as well as firing rockets at a number of towns in the northern Bekaa Valley, rigging cars, and killing or wounding civilians in gunfire.
Atrash has been referred to the judiciary after investigations with the Army were finalized.
