A report of the ‘Israeli’ Center for Documentation and Information in Hague revealed that “the decline in imports of Egyptian gas to Israel may be the cause of an Israeli-Lebanese war outbreak.”
A report of the Hague-based Center for Information and Documentation (CIDI) revealed that “the decline in imports of Egyptian gas to Israel after Jan 25 revolution may be the cause of an Israeli-Lebanese war outbreak, due to the Israel's quest to secure its needs, through exploiting large natural gas fields beneath the surface of the Mediterranean.”
The report pointed out that “since 2000, Egyptian gas had been sent to Israel in sufficient quantities. However, the recent four bombings of the Egyptian pipelines since last February strongly affected Tel Aviv and forced it to secure other gas supply resources.”
The report also noted that “the conflict over the exploitation of gas fields under the sea level may lead to an Israel-Hezbollah confrontation, and later to an Israeli confrontation against Lebanon.”
The report claimed that “an American-Israeli team had discovered the field of ‘Liftan’, one of the largest fields which had been discovered during the current decade that ensures for Israel 453 billion meter cubes of gas, worth up to $10 billion.”
The report went on to say that “in July 14, Hezbollah made it clear that he won’t allow Lebanon’s resources to be neglected, and that he doesn’t care about Israel’s threats, in response to what Israeli energy minister said that Israel is ready to use power to protect its resources.”
The Zionist cabinet, however, declared that “Tel Aviv has the exclusive right to run the field of ‘Liftan’, while the US tries to mediate a compromise to solve the crisis, in accordance with the norms of international law for the rights to exploit territorial water.”
Israeli entity shows “more interest in the field of ‘Liftan’ than the field of ‘Tamara’, because the former is larger and contains twice quantity of gas found in the latter, a quantity sufficient to provide Israel with adequate gas for period of almost fifty years.”
The report which revealed the level of the current Israeli needs of gas and the impacts of gas supplies stopping from Egypt, aims at making Cairo responsible for the expected conflict with Lebanon, in an apparent attempt by the ‘Israeli center for information and documentation, which is considered the long arm of Mossad in Europe to drive a wedge between Egypt and Lebanon in this critical political stage in Egypt.”
